Skiing & the mountain
The Ski Arlberg is one of the largest interconnected ski areas in the Alps, and Lech together with Zürs, Oberlech and Stuben forms the Austrian heart of this magnificent circuit. The terrain spans an exceptional range of difficulty and character, from immaculately groomed cruising runs that reward elegant technique to the legendary off-piste itineraries, most notably the Valluga descents above St Anton, that draw expert skiers from across the world. Snowfall in the Arlberg is among the most reliable in all of Europe, the region's position at the convergence of Atlantic weather systems delivering deep, consistent snowpack throughout the season.
A network of modern lifts connects the villages efficiently, and the famous White Ring, a classic ski circuit linking Lech, Oberlech, Zürs and Zug, remains one of the great day's skiing in the Alps. Ski guiding and private instruction at the highest level are available throughout the season, and the mountain restaurants scattered across the area offer welcome pauses of genuine quality, with long lunches in the sunshine an entirely acceptable way to spend an afternoon in Lech.
