St Anton, Austria

Events

St Anton's event calendar is as compelling as its terrain, beginning with an exhilarating season-opening après-ski party that sees one of Austria's premier radio stations broadcast live from the legendary Mooserwirt, accompanied by live music and the infectious energy that defines this celebrated resort. As the winter draws to a close, the White Thrill takes centre stage: widely regarded as the toughest ski race in the Alps, this cult Arlberg tradition demands that competitors first ascend a punishing 150-metre vertical before descending ungroomed, expert-only slopes at full pace. Flamboyant fancy dress is very much part of the occasion, lending the event a joyful spirit that belies its formidable physical demands.

New Year's Eve in St Anton is marked not with fireworks but with a spectacular laser show, held twice on the night at 20:00 and again at 23:30, making it equally suited to families and those intent on welcoming the new year in style. Known as St Anton Illuminated, this sustainable initiative has lit up the resort for more than six years, reflecting a broader commitment to a responsible alpine future.

The summer months bring a rich programme of cultural celebrations to the village. The St Anton village festival sees residents parade through the streets in traditional Austrian dress to the sound of brass bands, honouring the heritage of the wider Alpine region with genuine local pride. Later in the season, the Mountain Film Festival arrives in late August, gathering the leading names in mountain cinematography to present their work and share stories of extraordinary adventure and exploration in the high Alps.
