Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy

Activities

Cortina offers far more than skiing. In the open-air museums of the Cinque Torri and the Lagazuoi, the trenches and tunnels of the First World War have been restored and can be explored on foot or on skis; the Great War Ski Tour follows the old front line in a single day. Below the town, horse-drawn sleighs set off towards Fiames, and marked winter trails lead through the forest to the frozen lake of Ghedina.

In town, the Corso Italia is the place for a stroll past jewellers, old family shops and the Cooperativa di Cortina, a department store founded in 1893. The Olympic ice stadium of 1956 is still used for skating and curling, and the new sliding centre, built for the Games of 2026, carries on the bobsleigh tradition of Eugenio Monti.

We arrange private guides for the Great War routes, sleigh rides, snowshoe tours with a mountain guide and every other day away from the pistes.
